I'd follow standard protocol with him and discuss, then warn, and if it comes to it, then ban for a while. Sad yes, but I've got to keep consistent with members otherwise they'll all get out of hand.

I would send a friendly PM and ask the member what's wrong. Sometimes members are going through a stressful time in their life. Perhaps they have nobody to talk to about it in RL so they act bad on forums. If it happened suddenly, then I would say there is something bothering this member and they are seeking attention. I would offer an ear to let them vent. If the member came back with a negative response, then I would issue a warning. Of course if the warning was ignored, then a temp cool off ban would be in order.
