Do you like pork belly? What do you usually like pork belly with?

I feel a little bad because my boyfriend smoked some pork belly and it turns out I don't like it. I am very picky with meat and though the taste is good I hate how rubbery and fat it is. I know it's a porks belly so it will be fat but for some reason I didn't think it would be as chewy. I always feel bad when someone makes me dinner or food and I end up not liking it. I know I don't have to like everything but he did put in time making that pork belly. He is being a good sport about it though. He felt bad I didn't like it and that now I've got to cook myself another dinner. (Which isn't really hard at all. We have chicken skewers that I can cook for my tacos.)

So my question to you is, do you like pork belly? Do you enjoy fatty meats?

Yes! I do like pork belly.
If he smokes some pork belly again, try slicing it and cooking it crispy like you would bacon. Less processing and chemicals used than with bacon....so, healthier IMO.
I do like some fatty meats, but not usually SO fatty as pork belly is.
Especially if it's smoked it's also good sliced or chopped and cooked in beans or some soups. (y)

...............

First time I saw that in the meat counter I had to break out laughing because the only time I had heard "pork belly" before was the 'Hillary Clinton pork-belly scandal' in the news. :ROFLMAO:

YES :dance2:

Pork belly is one of my favourites.

I often purchase a large piece and adjust the cut depending on how I plan to cook it. My preferred method is slicing it into rashers (slightly thicker strips) that work well on a BBQ, in the oven, and in various other dishes.

And I don’t mind the fat, in fact .....the more the better :eat:it adds delicious flavour.
Pork belly is a meat I always enjoy. Interestingly, I hardly ever eat it as bacon. :dontknow:

Example something like this

A pork belly roll, or pork roll, is typically a pork belly that is seasoned, rolled tightly, and secured with kitchen twine before being roasted, braised, or slow-cooked.

If this is what you're referring to, then it's likely a pork belly roll.

In a broader sense, a pork roll could refer to any rolled preparation made with pork. This could include rolled and stuffed pork loin or other cuts of pork prepared in a rolled format, often with a variety of fillings and seasonings.

It was cooked in a frying pan and usually placed on a hamburger bun.

I looked it up and found that pork roll, also known as Taylor ham, is typically made from pork shoulder. If this is what you meant, then it’s quite different .

"Pork roll is a processed meat that's a regional specialty in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. It's made from ground pork that's been spiced, smoked, and cooked into a cylindrical log before being sliced. Pork roll is often served for breakfast, but can be eaten at any time of day. It's also known by other names, including Taylor ham, Trenton pork roll, and Original Jersey Ham. "

Sounds good! But, not marketed here that I know of. :(
