President Obama wins Nobel Peace Prize

President Barack Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize, it was announced Friday, making him the first American president to win the award in his first year in office.



Despite his brief tenure on the job and lack of tangible achievements, the Nobel Committee said it honored Obama for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples.

That is an actual achievement, but doesn't have anything to do with helping achieve world peace..... I read somewhere that they are calling this the Nobel (hoping for) peace prize.

Really don't see why you guys are complaining about him. You don't just jump into office and change everything like that. It takes time for changes and such to take place. I'm sure no one cares about this post, but oh well.. it's the truth and you all have to accept it.

Noone is complaining about him. It's just if you look at the other presidents that have received the Peace Prize--it was based on things they had done.

Woodrow Wilson--ending WW1 and forming the League of Nations

Teddy Roosevelt--brokering peace which ended the Japanese-Russo War

Jimmy Carter--the Camp David Accords--peace between Israel and Egypt.



Those were actual accomplishments--not speeches saying what he was going to do.

I think it's utter nonsense that he won that, think about all the people who work hard every day to make the world a better place, people who only care about others. They deserve it more then Obama.
