Do you answer phone calls from private / restricted phone numbers?

Why or why not?

Once.

To find out who, and / or what, it is.

If it is a telemarketer of any description and they call me or my wife, I report it to the Do Not Call website as a violation:
https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx

Of course, if it is our insurance company, or an out of state relative (several of whom live on military bases and use base phones to call out on to save on their own bill), or something like that, we talk to them.

No. If I don't know or recognize the number calling, I just let it go to answering machine.

If it is During business hours, and I am at home. Full disclosure..I see a therapist some times. If she has to call for some reason, her number comes through as restricted. So, if there is a reason for me to be expecting a call from her, I will answer. BUT she does have my permission to leave a voice mail.

I only answer phone calls from numbers that are saved into my phone. All other callers can leave a message and I'll call them back if I see fit. Otherwise they won't get to talk to me.

I just click the answer button and listen. If it's a telemarketer or something, then I let them waste their dime.

Here. That would have meant spending the rest of the weekend without heat.

The furnace tech that called me back wasn't using the company number that I called for service.

It came up "restricted" and didn't display.

I suppose if I was waiting for a technician to call me back, they I might answer a restricted phone number. :P

Nope. If they really needed to talk to me, they can leave a voice mail & their number, & I'll call 'em back.

My landlord's number always shows up as private, but never anything else. So I tend to answer that just in case.

Sometimes, although nowadays rarely get them on my mobile phone.

What is annoying are weird texts from spammers that I get.
