Do you usually create and run forums/websites for profit or not?
I personally don't care about profit although being able to cover the website costs from donations would be great!

Nope, its a labor of love. I'm not doing this for money.

If I was, there would be ads all over. :P

If I were to own a forum, I would do it partially for the money - just to earn back what I was spending so that I wasn't massively out of pocket.

I'd love to have my own forum, but lack of money, coding skills and general patience lowers my ability to do that. I'd just love really to introduce my own things into it more than anything.

I've tried putting ads on my forum before and there is not much profit to be made unless you run a high trafficked commercial site.

I had an advertising forum that was pretty active a few years ago and I tried putting banners on there. I only made a couple dollars a month.

I've included ads on some of my forums in the past but not to turn a profit. Unless you use a free host these things cost money and it'd have been nice to make money off the forum to pay for it and invest in it with new skins, better hosting etc.

When I used to have my own Design site I thought I could earn some money with Adsense...but when I tried to collect all of the sudden my account got suspended due to bad traffic.
