...oh, now, he says it:
You can tell that Obama and his signature legislative accomplishment are a sinking ship based on who is jumping off it. Kathleen Hunter of Bloomberg Politics reports: “Unfortunately, Democrats blew the opportunity the American people gave them” in electing Obama and a Democratic Congress in 2008 amid a recession, Schumer of New York said in a speech in Washington. “We took their mandate and put all our focus on the wrong problem – health care reform.”

Schumer said Democrats should have addressed issues aiding the middle class to build confidence among voters before turning to revamping the health-care system. He said he opposed the timing of the health-care vote and was overruled by other party members.

Translation: Don’t blame me in 2016. I told you guys this would be a disaster. We’re going to have to rebuild the Democratic Party after Obama has wrecked it, and I want to be the guy to lead the effort, with my friend Hillary Clinton turning the page and pretending we have nothing to do with Obama.

Asked about Schumer’s comments, White House spokesman Eric Schultz said, “I saw that he talked about the need to have an emphasis on the middle class, and that is something that drives us and this president every single day.”

Just pretend he didn’t say anything about Obamacare being a mistake. Even Nancy Pelosi did better than that (via Washington Post): "We come here to do a job, not keep a job. There are more than 14 million reasons why that's wrong," House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.)told CNN in a statement.

I like that part about not keeping their jobs.

Obama loyalists are striking back at Schumer, and that’s the kind of political fight worth popping some popcorn and watching with glee.

Just wait: it will get worse. Schumer may be obnoxious, but he is smarter than most of his congressional Democrat colleagues. This is just the beginning. The key moment to watch for is when a Democrat claims that he or she was “misled” about Obamacare. With or without a mention of Gruber. When that happens, Katy bar the door.(American Thinker)

Obama will never ever admit in any form that he was misled about obama care as long as he is in office. Something like that will come when he is watching the next president take office.

Sen. Chuck Schumer’s (D-New York) comments on Wednesday about Democrats’ misguided focus on health care in President Barack Obama’s first term prompted backlash from top Democrats and left-leaning groups, who accused him of being politically craven.

At a speech before the National Press Club in Washington on Tuesday, Schumer said Democrats made a mistake by entering into a fight over health care after they passed the 2009 economic stimulus.

His reasoning: Democrats were targeting the uninsured, a population that he said makes up only about 5 percent of registered voters. Only about one-third of the uninsured, he said, are registered or eligible to vote.

The “mandate” voters had provided Democrats with their 2008 victories, Schumer said, was put on the wrong problem.

“After passing the stimulus, Democrats should have continued to propose middle class-oriented programs and built on the partial success of the stimulus, but unfortunately Democrats blew the opportunity the American people gave them. We took their mandate and put all of our focus on the wrong problem – health care reform,” Schumer said.

“The plight of uninsured Americans and the hardships caused by unfair insurance company practices certainly needed to be addressed,” he added. “But it wasn’t the change we were hired to make. Americans were crying out for an end to the recession, for better wages and more jobs — not for changes in their health care.”
