It was slowed down, a few lives were saved for sure. It could have been worse.
No we really don't know that. But, I did agree with the INITIAL recommendations to stay home and shelter. I supported that. I supported taking some time for Doctors to get an understanding of what we were facing. But, then after a time it became apparent that was not going to helpful to quarantine HEALTHY people and that Govt really, really, really LIKED the power of locking us down.
The government liked a crumbling economy with businesses going under left and right? Them having to give out stimulus money to keep things going but those band-aids didn't make much of a difference? Civil unrest, protesting, a divided nation, etc, etc, etc.
Yes . A crumbling economy CREATES govt dependence. They left CORPORATE businesses stay open and make bank. In fact, they made record profits. They SHUT DOWN mom and pop stores? Why? To consolidate POWER. The stimulus was a pay off to show you were your daily crumb will come from. And yes, they want chaos, the break down of society, etc. Gives them the ability to control and take more. Do you really think anyone in DC gives a flying crap about you? You don't seem like a naive person to me.
If that were true then why are all the restrictions lifted now? Its like the pandemic never happened.... at least where I live. I even know of a few mom & pop's that made a come back recently.
All the restrictions aren't lifted. There are still mandates in place in some places. There are still masking requirements in places. They are still pushing vaccine passports and on and on. And they already achieved what they wanted, which was to see how far we could be pushed into complaince thru fear. And now they know. They are lifting it because they are already achieved what they wanted. But, now they KNOW. So, next time will be harder and longer.
Thats quite the theory. I'd say it wont happen again unless another crazy virus is introduced to the world. If you really want to get all tinfoil hat about it, maybe they're in the lab creating the next virus as we speak.
Did the government have the same motivations during the last pandemic 100 years ago (Spanish flu — 1918-1920)? Will they have the same motivations in another 100 years? ...or is this just something that happens to humanity every 100 years or so?
Well, if you want to belittle my opinions with the "tinfoil" hat type comments, I can take my comments elsewhere. I am college educated, own my own business. But, I also have learned history and understand the nature of Man and there are those who wish to control and dominate. And Govt has been one of the most effective killing machines on the planet. But, if you want to devolve the conversation into "tinfoil" stuff then carry on and I won't waste my time.
Do I think there have been benevolent governments? Yes. I do think that early created governments often have good intentions. I do think America was created as a free beacon of hope and liberty. However those ideals have been perverted and we are literally now controlled by politicians who have been in power since the days of JFK. Our govt was NOT set up to create a professional political class. IN fact, it was supposed to be a Citizen govt. However, it has now become a professional political class of untouchables. Sad but it is what it is.
Not belittling, just having a conversation. I just think that a government wont be very powerful if it's engineering things to kill off a big chunk of its population. They need those tax dollars from living residents.
It'll just be like the regular flu. It just took some time to learn what it is, what it does and how to control it. They're still working on it.
