Providing a False Alibi

A close friend has asked you to provide them with a false alibi as they are being questioned by the Police over a serious assault. They claim that they had nothing to do with the assault but are unwilling to tell you where they were. Would you still be willing to provide a false alibi for your friend? Please explain your answer.

No I am not going to lie to the police. They probably don't want to tell you where they were because they are involved in the assault and simply lied to you when they said they weren't. The other alternative is they weren't involved in the assault but would be somewhere doing something you would not be pleased to hear they were doing so either way they got something to hide as it's only a matter of who they have to hide it from.

Gotta love these questions that establish what types of principles and morals people have.

Anyway, if they can't tell me where they actually were (instead of out committing the assault), then why should I cover for them? Sounds like they're guilty to me if they're acting like that, and if I was really their close friend, they'd tell me the whole truth. :Dontknow:
