I was just notified that a 17 year old male that we pulled from a car wreck is now a quadriplegic. For those who don't know what this is, he is paralyzed from the neck down. We were all hoping this wouldn't be the outcome. He's being transferred out this afternoon to a rehabilitation center.
I remember at the crash site him asking over and over why he couldn't feel his arms or legs. I told him that he suffered a spinal injury but how bad, I couldn't tell him. We had to call for Life Flight to have him flown to the trauma center. I also remember him telling me that if couldn't walk again then he just wanted to die.
This is just such sad news. I'm not even sure how I would cope with this if I were in his shoes.
Do you know a person who is a quadriplegic?
