My mom is pretty much the HR of our local Kroger and believe me, you're not the only one to just up and quit like that. It happens pretty consistently, she's always talking about no-call, no-shows, and people just quitting days after working there.Yup, same here with Kroger. I pretty much got in orientation at a very bad time when I had a kidney stone procedure done. The urologist chose to go another route with the stent, and let me just say sitting and walking was not easy. The HR manager/person was going on vacation soon. Sadly my schedule would not work out at the times given, so just no call no showed my second day orientation. I was going to call and say I had to quit due to unforeseen circumstances but went meh. I shouldn't have done that, but oh well.
Sounds like something I wouldn't really be interested in, to be honest. Thanks for the compliments, nonetheless! If I were a big, strong, young guy like you I think I would like to learn how to be a Farrier. Knowing that trade, the jobs would come looking for you.![]()
For sure have heard of people who just quit or no call no show a lot in retail and fast food. I don't feel bad about it and probably would not have liked it anyway. My mom is pretty much the HR of our local Kroger and believe me, you're not the only one to just up and quit like that. I guarantee this wouldn't be a problem if retailers and fast food places paid better or offered more hours. More often than not, when I was in retail, the reason people quit was because we didn't offer enough hours (at one point, our team was working on a skeleton crew and it sucked). For sure have heard of people who just quit or no call no show a lot in retail and fast food. Oh, well thats still a lot longer than I would want to drive. My work is about 10 or 15 minutes away.
Hopefully you'll find a job closer to you ...or maybe you could move closer to your job?Lucky you!

I've seen that a lot of the younger generation are quite big on just quitting your job if you hate it, and that's fair enough. All the best with your job search (if you haven't already found something!).
I've done this a few times. It's always worked out in the end.
