Question: Does religion play a vital role in modern societies? (Why/Why not?

I would say in other countries besides America yes. Americans don't seem to care as much about religion as others do say in Israel or even in Muslim countries. So no.

Not so much in this country in comparison to other countries where ancient religious laws are still practiced, but in some ways it does matter here in America.

Yes it impacts all of us all the time and is the major cause of the wars which are taking place.

Religion in North America is just as important in other countries like South America. It just seems otherwise with the militant like atheists attacking religion in every town across America. The radicalized atheists that are the overwhelming minority but yet they are so loud in the destruction of all religion. It shows how peaceful American Christianity is because in other countries they would have long been all dead.

haven't heard of those before.

I am a atheist but I am not out to destroy every remnant of religion. They are here and they are out to destroy Americas heritage.

American Atheist Leader Calls for the ‘Eradication’ of ‘Fundamentalist Christians’

American Atheists, a non-profit that claims to protect the rights of atheists and to ensure the “absolute separation of government and religion,” always seems to find itself in the middle of controversy.

As if the most recent Ground Zero cross lawsuit the group launched isn’t enough to inspire widespread angst, an explosive new blog post on the organization’s web site advocating for the “eradication” of fundamental Christians (and Islamists) is certain to make waves.

In the post, Al Stefanelli, American Atheists’ Georgia State Director, makes a bizarre connection between radical Muslims and Christians. In speaking about “fundamentalist Christian and radical Islamic doctrines,” Stefanelli says that both are “dangerous, damaging and disingenuous.” Throughout the blog post, he continues to create ties between these two groups, but declines to truly define them.

Play that game with someone else. If you think they are something else trying not to destroy the American culture with there threats and scare tactics have at it.

i'm just calling you out because it seems you love to use the word when you talk about your enemies and/or people/groups you dislike/hate...

like everyone is a "radical" besides you and your friends/people you agree with...
