Figured that this was the best place for this topic. But do reviews tend to help you make a decision on whether or not to buy a book, movie, cd, or other?

They're helpful to get an idea of what most people think, but at the end of the day whether or not you like a movie or a book is up to you. If you're going to see a movie and read a lot of negative reviews about it, you're probably going to dislike it because of everything you've read.

Not really because every persons taste and opinions are different. What I might like, you may hate.

I found movies that the majority liked that were terrible and vice versa. It can be helpful but it can also steer you into buying/renting a movie you won't like too.

When it comes to music, games and books, yes. This doesn't mean I won't try it out before buying it, but generally it gives you a pretty good idea of the whole package, whether you agree with the reviewer or not.
