Johnny Gaudreau, a forward with the Columbus Blue Jackets, died yesterday evening. He and his brother Matthew were biking and were hit by a drunk driver. His brother also died. They were going to be attending their sister's wedding today. I can't even imagine what the family is going through. In the blink of an eye they go from celebrating a marriage to planning two funerals because of a completely avoidable accident. Why people continue to choose to drive drunk is beyond me.

Johnny played for the Flames (my favourite hockey team) for the first 9 years of his career and he was my favourite player until he left for Columbus so this hits a bit close to home for me. He was such an amazing hockey player. My only problem with him was that he wasn't Canadian.
