And boring to tears for me personally. If I can do everything alone, why do I have to have human companionship? I'd much rather have pets around me than human beings for me personally at least anyways. Dating/relationships are boring to death too for me personally. Why? Because I can do everything on my own, I enjoy my solitude. In my "ME" time (which is all the time), I find all kinds of interesting things to do, whereas with another human being, I have to compromise and share and I suck at it myself. How about you? Do you enjoy romance and dating/relationships according to you?

Romance is just as much a part of the human experience as anything else; its' the thrill of the chase, of being "chased" and of "chasing" by someone attracted to you. Its' right up there with passion and lust and love; its' another part of who we are as human beings, @Naiwen.

Seems like you spend a lot of time convincing yourself that being alone is the right choice. :|

What's so bad about being alone, so horribly wrong with it?

You need to get laid more than anyone… I see you talking about how being alive is pointless and you want to kill yourself all the time. Maybe a relationship and getting laid regularly would be good for you. Try it out…. Then have Mrs. Smiley join up and post with us :D

That's great, but you didn't answer my question. ;)

Ah. You can't answer it, because there's absolutely nothing wrong with it. Gotcha. :whistles:

There isn’t anything wrong with being alone if that’s what the person wants, but I think you should at least try it out first. People who have never been in a relationship and spend all day talking about horrible they are don’t know what their talking about. :P

We learn from the negative experience of others and strive not to fall into the same traps and make the same mistakes. I am yet to see so much as ONE couple in my country who haven't regretted staying single at some point. Divorce rate continuously keeps increasing, and the number of newborns rapidly keeps decreasing with each passing year, inevitably leading to eventual social and demographic collapse.

I agree with you there.

I am yet to see so much as ONE couple in my country who haven't regretted staying single at some point.

I felt that way after my divorce for a while. I'm still unsure if I want to marry again. The person I'm with is great but I'm still deeply scarred after my first marriage went to shit.

Divorce rate continuously keeps increasing,

I wonder why people my age can't stay in a relationship for more than 15 years. The only people I see in committed marriages are old people.

and the number of newborns rapidly keeps decreasing with each passing year,

This has piqued my interest. Can you please elaborate? I saw a movie called "Children of Men" and it was where people quit having kids and the entire world just went into some kind of chaos. Does it have anything to do with the abortion rate, just people not breeding, or is the miscarriage rate?

inevitably leading to eventual social and demographic collapse.

How?

People not breeding due to society reaching the point of decadency where the rich minority (mostly corrupted politicians) prioritize self-indulgence over everything else, and the resulting high emigration numbers on the side of the poor majority.

My country is continuously losing population due to people leaving it in search for a better life, and those who are still here (like me), are too busy fending for ourselves, keeping ourselves fed and clothed, so children are something not everyone can afford to have. Personally, I wouldn't want them even if I were rich because I firmly believe it would be selfish and morally irresponsible of me to bring another life into this pathetic grossly overpopulated world of pain and suffering, full of bipedal monsters.

We had a census last year. The entire country's population is approximately 3.8 million, which is around 400,000 people less than 2011 when the previous census took place, and the number continues to decline. More people die each year than are born.

Of course, abortions and miscarriages also happen, but their number is negligible compared to the fact the country is simply running out of humans. Politicians have done everything in their power to make it happen. One of our former presidents once said that anyone who doesn't like the way the country's leaders lead it are free to leave elsewhere, which is exactly what people have been gradually doing for years now.

Simple. Once the number of retired people outweighs the number of active workers, the retirement fund will be drained. If it pours out faster than it pours in, it's gonna dry out sooner or later. Also, if the population number continues to decline, worker shortage is going to start killing jobs, which is already happening in some areas. Some employers can't find workers at all, no matter how much money they offer. At the same time, some people are complaining how they can't get a job, but when offered one, they nitpick over every single detail, looking for a reason to turn it down and continue doing nothing. Decadency.

Life is pointless too, but humans keep romanticizing it anyway. I'm particularly amused by the romantic comedy movies which portray dating, romance and life in general in a horribly wrong way, creating unrealistic expectations among the young audience, making them think that's how it's supposed to be, so they get burned and disappointed when they discover that's not how the real life works.

If there is one thing I hate romantic movies....puke.

Yeah but if you find the right person ...nothing that happened to anyone else will matter. You'll both be happy and will live happily ever after.

We obviously live in a completely different worlds, diametrically opposite to each other.

I too believe it is overrated, but I'm all for the individual's choice on the matter. The reason I believe it is overrated is that so much of the media and your peers make it out that you're a loser if you're not in a relationship. I think this stereotype needs to be done where peer pressure doesn't settle in to force someone into a relationship. I'm 32 and I've asked 6 girls out my whole life and only one went out with me and she dumped on me the next day. I'm sure 6 is not much compared to some people, but I hate the fact that the men are seen as the 'chasers' to catch the girl of their dreams, I wish women would equally 'chase' after men as we do women. I'm not much of an initiator when it comes to talking to people, I generally talk to those that talk to me, and based on my experience most women talk little to none to guys that come off as introverted, shy, or socially awkward/anxious.

I know a majority of humans desire to be loved, wanted, cherished, and seek attention. But, I think I'm going to keep searching through myself and my own experiences to find happiness and not let greed, jealousy, or peer pressure force me into something I may later on regret.
