Do you share your apartment/flat or home with roommates?



How many roommates do you have?



Do they help to keep the place clean?



Do they help with the cooking?



Are they loud and keep you awake at night?



Do you get along with them?

1) I share a flat. Have done for the past 2 years going on 3 now. Can't wait for my own place.



2) The ones I have this year sort of do. One cleans with me. The other doesn't. Last year was okay in most since I had 2 flatmates who cleaned. Though I did have one who used to leave all the cleaning to me and blame the mess on the fact that I wasn't cleaning.



3) We all cook our own food, we're not that good of friends to cook for each other.



4) This years flat mates aren't that loud. They were at Halloween but that was last year.



5) We co-exsist. I wouldn't say we got a long or didn't get a long.

I'm married, so no roommates for me, but yes to the rest of the questions.

A long time ago I lived in a house with 5 others. We were all young and it was a bit of a party house. There was one guy in the house who I became friends with only to find out over time that he was a bit of a psycho.



I really realized it one Sunday when I ask him where he was Saturday night and he told me that he got high and broke into someone house. I was shocked. He laughed and told me that he did it often, and enjoyed seeing if he could get into places. I asked him what he would do and he told me that he would break into the house, and re-arrange the furniture.



I thought he was joking but he was not, he would get the thrill of thinking of the reaction of people coming home in the night to find their living room re-arranged, nothing missing from the house, just re-arranged.



Or he would steel something like a cork-screw, or one shoe knowing that it is not something people would notice until they needed it, then would go nuts looking for it.



He was a bit strange.

I'm in a university residence hall - don't call it a dorm - so I have one roommate, and then ~20 other guys on the floor plus the rest of the people in the hall (10 floors of residents). I don't like my roommate at all. Rest of the guys on the floor are cool, but my roommate, ugh. We have nothing in common, no common interests, we hardly ever talk (more than 'are you going home this weekend' and 'yes/no' is very, very rare for us). The good part is he's hardly ever here, pretty much only sleeps in the room, so I have a single room for the most part. I just wish I really did have a single room. I need his closet space.

Why not?

Because it's a residence hall. There's a difference. A residence hall is much more than just living quarters for students, which would be a dorm or dormitory. There is much more happening in a res hall, from activities, to study groups, organizations and beyond. It's a running joke sort of to call the buildings residence halls and not dorms.

Right now it's just me and my wife, and various and assorted critters including:



1. The Supreme Galactic Overlord, his highness and master of all he surveys, Jack the Poodle.



2. Buster, the English Angora rabbit.



3. A whole flock of Zebra Finches, well, there's six, but they make enough noise to be a flock.



4. The newest arrival, Scooter the Morkie who really wants to be a Good Dog, he just doesn't have an inkling of how to do it.
