I suppose it could work but children are a lot faster with that sorta learning.

I've used Rosetta Stone products before. If you want to pick up some know-how (certainly not a catch-all solution) and quick, it works pretty well. If you're looking to learn a language as a hobby basis, or have plenty of time, you're better off with actual lessons, or perhaps with Myngle (www.myngle.com).
