Running a Forum = Personality test?

Do you think running a forum could be more of a personality test for some people, to determine whether they are leaders or followers? I was having a discussion with a friend about this on another forum, about what I have been trying to do for this past year and a half, and he and I both jumped to the same agreement that I was more of a follower than a leader. Meaning, I am more apt to help give advice to members and help members out probably as a Gmod or something, but I am seriously not the type who likes telling people what to do or is capable of telling people what to do. I thought that was a really interesting point, and I agree. I am more of a person who would rather run alongside a community and help contribute to it rather than trying to build my own up. So what do you think? Do you think that running a forum could be a personality test, to determine whether you are a leader or a follower? Explain why you think that is.

BTW, I have no intentions of running a forum again as I have learned this past year that I am more of a follower than a leader, so don't get the idea in your heads that I'm going to try start one. I just thought it'd be an interesting discussion overall.

I guess in a way it is a personality test. How motivated are you by starting up your own project, how well you can lead, how much determination you have, etc. Interesting way of thinking of it - something I would not have done.

Yes, that is true as well. Also, it could be a good test to see how well you are capable of finishing what you start as well. For example, say if someone requested you to install a mod, and you accept to install it, it can be a way to test whether or not you will follow through on what you say and things like that.

I will say this it takes a lot of tiem and effort to make and keep a forum running if you don't put the effort in it will fail but then again people who have put in the effort before have goen no where with there boards and have gotten little or no activity on there forums. So really up to how the person does it.

Yeah, I have tried and tried again. Went to what must've been a billion forum hosting sites, and no matter how hard I worked, I just couldn't keep my interest in tact. So I finally just said to myself, just forget it, and find staff positions elsewhere. So that's what I'm finally starting to do.
