Not sure if there is already a thread similar to this one or if running is considered a sport (I think it is), but discuss about you and the world of running, no matter if it's a marathon, half-marathon, or good ol' 5K race.

I can't run because I have dodgy knees and snapped my hamstring when I was younger.

Despite being tall, I was never a good runner.

Began running 5K races last year at age 18. My first race was on a rather-soggy mid-May morning in the city of Port Huron, MI. I came out running in very first place in the first mile until a mid-aged runner with experienced passed me. I finished among the top 10 (in 4th) with a time of 20:09.

Aside from the forced running in primary and secondary school, I haven't done any running.

National - 11:47 for each mile is the average for all runners. The average for fast runners is 4:49 per mile. My average pace per mile is 7:04.

Also, my average finish is about 21:14.

I am pretty much fast, although I have no chance of keeping up with Kenyan runners (considered to be the country with the fastest runners).

Well, most people don't

Well, earlier today, I finished among the top 30 runners in 26th place overall and 4th among the age/gender with the time of 21:15.

The same place with the 5K also had a duathlon (20K mountain bike/5K foot race) and there are more participants with that event. There were about 95 runners for the 5K event alone.

You did very well and congratulations!

Finished this morning's race in St. Clair, MI with the total time of 20:32. I have finished ninth overall, fifth among my gender (men), and third among my age/gender division.

My next race will be my 24th race of 2012, in Bay Port, located in western Huron County on Michigan's Thumb Region.

Runner's Tip:

A marathon should never be a good idea for your first race. An ideal first race can be a 5K or high school/college cross country meet.

Anybody running in any marathon, half-marathon, or any kind of length this fall? We've got leaves changing and weather starting to get cold.

Any plans for running your first 5K, 10K, half marathon, or marathon for 2013? It's perfect for all people whose resolutions are to lose weight and staying healthy.

Not me, if I lost any weight I'd be dead

I suppose it would be healthy... but I'm not really willing to make time for these things.

My plan is to run a race on every week. Race 1 is tomorrow in a town northwest of Detroit called Flushing.
