Federal marriage benefits will be made available to same-sex couples across the United States after last month's Supreme Court ruling, Attorney General Loretta Lynch said on Thursday.

"I directed Justice Department staff to work with the agencies to ensure that the ruling be given full effect across the federal government," including Social Security and veterans benefits programs, Lynch said in a statement.

I wonder how @TRUE LIBERTY is going feel about this one :P

And there it is! It is what I said it was all about right from the beginning, the governments freebies!

But Let me make this clear, I have no problem with gays and them having the same rights as us that does not involve government handouts. Government should have never gotten involved in any aspect of marriage except for making sure contracts between the couple are fulfilled if there is a separation or death of a partner. I even have no problem with gay couples calling there union a marriage when government is not dictating marriage.

But what we have done is alienate around 150 million people by our supreme court not ruling on the Constitution but instead personal feeling and agendas they believe should be fulfilled. With America in moral and economical decay eventually there is a tipping point where people who sit quietly and let this all happen push back when they feel like they have been beaten and backed into a corner and not to many times in history does it go well for the minority.

.....so what? About high damn time government started treating same-sex couples w/the same respect they treat opposite-sex couples...as I said to another critic of SSM, "We won, you lost...get over it."

You were every state in the union recognized gay couples for things like visting the hospital, property and such as it should be. Just no government handouts.

And everyone forgets the supreme court is not the final decider on things. Congress can still write new law. The states in the next year or two are getting close to a Convention of the states. People are so angry in this country and will be pushed only so far. And it actually makes me scared what they will do when they feel it's time to fight back and how far they will go.

You know all the political supreme court had to do was throw this back at the states and say this issue as stated clearly under the constitution falls under there power through the people of the state's. Then when states decided that's the route the people wanted to go people against it might not agree but can accept it was fine legally. But instead now a majorityo f Americans see a supreme court backing a lawless federal government. Which just increases anger resentment and a step closer to people causing anarchy when they choose to go against the federal government in the many ways possible.

You won battle battle by poisoning the host.

Yeah, let's trust the fickle bigotries of the states here 'cause that worked oh-so-well, didn't it?

Actually it does work out well and was working out well when courts allow the constitutional process of the people's will plays out. It may be slower as each state figures it out. And then other state's take the best ideas from the rest. In the end we have something legal and much better then this lawless decision.
