Your house, have everything you own and catches fire. (pets and other people are safe ) you have time to save only one item. What would it be?

:dontknow:.........My portable hard-drive?????

If I had all of my family/kids' (hard-copy) pictures in one box, I'd take that; but, I don't.

My family first, but since we are talking about an "item", It's hard to be on that position, but I would save a minute to analyze what's going on and not to do a stupid reaction, because saving a single item does't make anything any better.

It's easy to say it, but in reality, at that moment your instincts wins.

I don't honestly know what I would save. So long as my family and pets are safe that's what matters.

Probably my computer- well if we're allowed to save electronics

If electronics are out of the question, then I would save a torch with a picture of a cat on it- given to me by someone who passed.

Hopefully your homeowners insurance (if you own) would put you up in a hotel.
I don't know. I've never read it. I do have to make a list of things that aren't consider the usual. Books, records, collectibles, etc.

ITEM?! I mean, I wouldn't save anything if it meant I had to choose between an item and my cats. I'd rather have my cats. But if they're safe and I have to grab one item, then it would be my laptop.

OP said all people and pets are safe.

I guess my wallet and car keys.

That happened to my grandpa. His old house burned down with him in it. He got out safely and had PTSD and nightmares from it for a while. Grandma says he keeps a hatchet underneath the bed so he can break out a window for a quick escape in case it were to happen again.
