Remnants of Evil (Evil is the Victim)

Written by Fatal Dawn

Let me tell you the story of one man

The day his life was taken by a life he took

One day this man had broken his last run-in with the law.

As the police chased him tirelessly from block to block, he spot a vehicle parked in the corner of the road. Seeing his chance to escape he attempted to hi-jack the vehicle. The man fired shots into car. Forcing himself into the driver seat, he looked back. The shocked man left the car and ran as he saw the bullets’ victim. An unintended target. An eight year old girl.

A young child in the car, riding on her way to church.

The child’s lulled face staring through the cracks in the glass.

He never forgot that face...

On that day, innocence was lost to evil.

The man was never the same after that day

When he went to sleep, he closed his eyes and saw visions

Graphic depictions...

Strange noises in his quiet dwelling

Things being broken and faint yelling

Things had occurred that he couldn’t start denying

He would stare aimlessly into the mirror and begin crying

He woke up with night fits, peering in the dark to see he wasn’t alone

He felt tremors in his bones and heard disembodied groans

Ghastly manifestations of a girl sentenced to unrest

Visions of the girl in that same hallowed dress

Months passed and the situation grew intense

Pressure immense, he began flooding his house with incense

The calm ended with the man awaking to a child's laughter

Footsteps would be heard shortly after...

Singing would become vocal when it started raining

Children’s folksong music could be heard playing

It all drove the man insane

He woke up mid-night with his breath cold

He felt her listless eyes staring into his soul

He woke up and saw what he feared to envision

A full-body, young female apparition

He ran from his bed as the girl took steps near

He couldn’t breathe as he was distraught with fear

He ran outside to his balcony for fresh air

And when he thought the girl disappeared

He felt tingling in the back of his hair

She stood before him

Pale was her skin

And she smiled a devilish grin

Her hair reeked with the ages

The man begged as his heart-beat rages

He felt coldness in his legs and a chill in his lungs

His thoughts grew clouded with mourning bells rung

He couldn’t take it and took the plunge

He jumped off his three-story balcony

He broke his neck as he screamed with agony

I say this:

Be careful what you do, it may come back to haunt you

Be careful how you sleep, they may take your breath away

Be careful what evil you do to others, because some day

You will be the victim of your own evil
