School Security

Do you think that there needs to be increased security at schools? Should students be searched?



I think yes. Earlier this week, a 12 year-old was stabbed to death by a 13 year-old at a Brisbane school, and a few days ago in Sydney, and 11 year-old pulled a knife on another student at a Sydney school. A teacher disarmed him before anybody was hurt. Knives are the weapon of choice here in Australia due to our tougher gun laws, and TV Shows have received emails from students claiming that they carry a knife to school for self defence. Do you think this is too much?

I carry a knife, not a huge deal imo. There's some feral people around the towns at night. But at school, i don't think so. Teachers should be keeping an eye on the kids, it's their jobs.

Should these teachers have X-Ray vision? Teachers can only do so much, they are human after all. If a student carries a gun in his waistband with intent to shoot another student, how can your average teacher suspect and figure that out?

Teachers jobs are to teach the students. Not be security guards. If they really want to crack down on this, the school would install metal detectors at the entrances. Some schools in busy cities do this here in America. No school I ever went to though.

I think so, my old schools didn't seem to have good security... Although my highschool had that muscular guy

My college is whacky, the security contains of an old guy. I only know that there are atleast 3 security gaurds.

Security at my college comprises of a senior student like me. If someone is causing a ruckus, then i get asked to come and pick up the (normally rather small) person, and carry them over to the office.
