School Uniforms

If it becomes a need-- For. Some people just don't learn. Have a dress code, and if people can't abide by it, make a mandatory uniform.

I never had uniforms and I did fine in school. Nobody's clothes ever distracted me from learning.. lol

I dont really see the point.

I guess uniforms have many purposes but the one they push at our school is that it keeps kids from getting distracted by their clothing. Also because we have to travel great distances to get to our school, and it looks better if we're not in our jarmies.

Unfortunately, our uniform is super uncomfortable and unflattering, which is even more distracting. Hell, I might even enjoy school a little more if I could wear what I wanted. As of now, we look like depressed Christmas trees.

You should come to our school. There are some pretty slutty people.

I'm neither one way or another. I understand uniforms but I also understand not having a uniform code. I've never personally went to a school that had uniforms though I wouldn't be against it.

Years and years ago when I was in high school my good friend went to another high school and they had uniforms. Their uniforms were plain white and at this time was when the pins on your clothes was popular and people tried to put some pins on the uniforms and the principal banned the pins from the school because "It wasn't part of the school uniform". Well in protest to this action the students decided not to wear any under garments because "they aren't part of the school uniform". It just so happened that it was raining that day and all the students went outside for their lunch breaks. Needless to say the white uniform because VERY see-through and you can definitely tell that the students were not wearing anything underneath their uniform. Most of the students got sent home for being a distraction and being too inappropriate. Not long after that the school actually provided undershirts, bra's, underwear and boxers as a part of their school uniforms. I'm not going to lie, it was a very interesting event and school kids still talk about that event to this day.

Completely against. Half of their purpose is to control kids and try to force this weird discipline of "all of you look the same, there are no individuals". Yeah yeah, some people can argue "but uniforms prevent distracting clothes!" Okay, that's an easy to fix problem, have rules against those clothes, and offer substitute clothes if the child comes to school wearing i. Problem solved! It's such a bullshit, cop out excuse.

The other half of uniforms purpose is to sexualize young girls and "teach" them about how a woman "should" dress. Hence why almost every single school uniform consists of a skirt. Doesn't matter how long or short it is, girls are in a skirt. Why? To feminize them. "You are a girl, you wear a skirt!"

Honestly, I'm surprised these religious/private schools don't have a class dedicated to indoctrinating young girls with the "you will be a housewife who bears children" mentality.

I wore a uniform in high school. It was kind of nice not having to decide what to wear every day.
