Some schools do not have uniforms, some do.

Should students be required to wear uniforms at school?

I think yes as, school unforms means that everyone are equal as they are wearing the same clothes, so they arn't under any pressure to dress how thier peers do. Also having school uniforms means that the kid won't have to decide what to wear the next day and it's less washing up for the parent. But then again, the kid could lose their sense of individuality, as they have to dress up the same as everyone else. It depends on what the school want. But I think yes.

I agree. It makes life easier because you know what you have to wear and there is not the pressure to wear the latest fashions, which not everyone can afford. Also, those who cannot afford lots of high fashion clothes and trainers are not then intimidated by those who can afford them.

A uniform is also supposed to give you a sense of pride in yourself and in your school community. Smart uniforms do give a very good impression to people, much more so than the baggy clothes boys wear and the overtly sexy clothes young girls wear.

Also, if you're out on a school trip, it's easier to identify your students when they're wearing uniform.

I don't think you lose your sense of individuality because you are all different at school anyway and you change your clothes when you get home.

I don't agree with the washing thing though. If your child comes home muddy or filthy or whatever, you have to make sure their uniform is washed and dried and ready for the morning, which is a hassle if it's midweek. Just m.o.

Well...no one's ever reported one missing, so either they turned up or...no one's noticed yet! *sniggers*

I don't have much to add but I certainly agree with both Rapunzel and The Dragon Master. Plus it's a much nicer atmosphere and could add more to the learning environment if everyone wears uniforms in my opinion.

I like uniforms anyway! XD

I say no. I don't think we should be telling students everyone is equal when in the real world everyone is not equal. I think kids should be prepared for the real world earlier on in life so they don't get out of High School and get insulted then when they realize someone has better clothes than them.

Yes, I always had a set uniform at my two schools. I think it shows the children to be smart and it also good for class situations, some kids might have well off parents who buy them expensive clothes and other children may not be privileged enough to have these expensive clothes and that is how bullying can start [and we all hate those]. Losing a sense of your individuality is possible but children have their ways of expressing their individuality by wearing different styles of shoes, bags, hair color etc. Also if they choose to go to college they can really show who they are as there is no dress code for 98% of Colleges in England. Wearing uniform is also good for a schools accreditation as it shows they are smart, respectful and equal.

I never had uniforms and I did fine in school. Nobody's clothes ever distracted me from learning.. lol

I dont really see the point.
