If you ever wanted a glimpse of what it’s like to a firefighter responding to a fire, here’s your chance.
The San Bernardino County Fire Department equipped their crew members with a camera so they could record their response to a house fire in Victorville, California.
The video follows one firefighter as he heads to the scene on La Paz Drive in a fire truck, surveys the house, and finally heads to the roof to cut a hole so that the smoke trapped inside and escape.
Five engines, one truck company and a battalion chief responded to the emergency.
Firefighters found the residents already outside but searched the inside of the house to find the family dog, which they reunited with the owners.
The crew used a combination of hose lines and vertical ventilation (cutting holes in the roof) to extinguish the fire within 30 minutes and prevent it from spreading to any neighbouring buildings but one.
San Bernardino Fire Department said that a total of seven people – three adults and four children – were displaces as a result of the fire, and the Red Cross was called to arrange temporary housing and clothing.
Damages are estimated to be around $150,000 (£96,000) and the fire’s origins are being investigated.
