We've all heard of self driving cars over the years. Tesla are one of those companies that have been working on making them more user friendly, and more capable. What are your general opinions on self driving cars, and would you be willing to try one out, if it was for a long distance trip on the interstate?

I know I would eventually want to try them out, but I am afraid I might end up like that one guy that let the car self navigate, and slept in the car while the car self drove itself to his work.

I will get one of them as soon as they are reliable and available where I live. I am ok with manually driving, but if you can sit back and relax and still it works, that is certainly nice.

It be awkward at first but if it can do it for you, especially the king drives 3+ hours then that’s amazing technology!

It will become a standard in a few decades. That is only if people do go outside for travel.

I think the idea is certainly attractive. Most accidents are caused by human error - and self-driving vehicles have the potential to eliminate that. Not to mention, you'd actually be able to do stuff on your journey (because you'd no longer have to concentrate on driving).

Of course, I'd want them to be well-tested first (so that as many of the bugs as possible are ironed out) - but, I'm not against the concept at all.

I don't fancy the idea, personally. Too much can go wrong. Sure, this is true of just driving anyway, but suppose the computer malfunctions, or a bug is inadvertently released into the latest patch that causes unintended acceleration or reduced sensor capacity to the point the car doesn't know what it's doing anymore...I don't want to be in a runaway self-driving car. What if it won't let me re-assume control? Nah...I'll just drive.

I was gonna say the same things, Apps have enough bugs as it is, I rather drive the car myself at least I know where I’m going.

When I was younger, I had always wished we had these types of cars. I thought of all the time people would save. But now that technology IS advancing, it doesn’t seem as good now. There’s too many things that can go wrong. I rather drive myself. Then if I get in an accident, it’s human error, not computer error. Unless of course the accident was caused by a self-driving car! Then I’d be mad lol
