How did the September 11 attacks affect you? Where were you when you heard the news?

I got called into my night job at 3 PM, after the towers had fallen, because the regular evening shift was too scared (or upset) to go in. We watched 7 World Trade Center collapse on the TV at work.

There is a major military base in town, so people were worried that somebody would go after it. Or that riots would break out and there would be looting, etc.

So I spent the night with a loaded .38 on my hip in its holster walking the grounds listening to the scanner.

Remember, nobody knew what was going on, who had done it, whether it was open war or another attack was coming or what was going to happen.

The peaceniks have forgotten that.

We should remember the love and tolerance and understanding that brought us that day. And never forget it.

And keep our guns loaded while we cling to them and our religion. Because those that brought us 9-11 want to take both away from us.

I was 6 years old, and I remember an announcement went through my whole school saying what happened.

I was in class when I heard the sad news.shocked and feeled sad for that.and knew better about the terrorism after that.

may those deadths rest in peace.may their family members live a better life...

I didn't effect me at all personally, though a girl I went to school with lost her uncle in the Pentagon.

Pretty crazy how this year will be the 10th anniversary of the attacks. Where does the time go?

I was in the sixth grade. Was too young to really understand what was going on, so didn't get why all the teachers/adults were bawling their eyes out. Until I got home and kept seeing the planes hit the towers. Finally grasped what had happened in the days following the attacks.

Still think about it to this day. Every day. Always going to have the nagging question of 'why am I not over there fighting right now?' but, I can't leave the kids. Not until they're older at the very least.
