It depends, in some cases it can evoke a strong sense of emotion, in other cases you feel almost as if the director is going directly for a shock value.
Some people will say oh it's just like porn but I think, given the film has a structured storyline, with real characters with real depth, a graphic sex scene can really help in their development.

Depends on if it advances the story line, or it's just sex. (same, IMO, for violence, nudity, and swearing) If it has something to do with advancing the story--fine. I've seen nudity scenes in movies that were just an excuse to show a girl taking off her shirt or bra....didn't really have anything to do with the movie.
The only film I can think of that needed nudity to work is Schindler's List, but it's mostly gratiutious.
And to answer your question , Kacz, do nothing, A fortnight ago - when I was watching The Godfather with my parents - there was a very very brief, fully clothed (but loud) sex scene, which was just a little bit awkward.
