An apparent pitch deck from one of Facebook's alleged marketing partner appears to detail how the firm eavesdrops on users' conversations to create targeted ads.

In a slideshow, Cox Media Group (CMG) claims that its 'Active-Listening' software uses AI to collect and analyze 'real-time intent data' by listening to what you say through your phone, laptop or home assistant microphone.

In a discussion with my daughter who is very tech-aware, we wondered if this was a trial balloon by the internet companies like FB and G and A to see how much screaming there was, THEN they'd gauge when and how to let it leak out that they've been doing it for years.

BEFORE they end up called up in front of a Senate committee to explain themselves.

My brother is convinced that his "smart TV" is not only listening to them, but watching them through the game bar.
I dated a woman who would tape the little dot cameras on her laptop and other electronics. She was paranoid about being watched.

I started doing that when certain ads on certain websites asking permission to activate the cameras.

I remember one of the ads was on CNN, and another time Yahoo asked for the permission.

It's been awhile, but you can be sure that they've only gotten sneaker about it.

There is script available that can and will activate them regardless of the lack of permission.

No joke.

A few years back my friend and I were idly chatting about a mattress he wanted to buy and his phone started showing ads for mattress incessantly.
