Do you think athletes should be role models for our kids?

They are often caught up in scandals.

What do you think?

They're just people doing a job, I don't think they should be forced to stand the pressure of watching their every move to make sure they're good role models. Kids are gonna choose a lot of bad role models from people in the public eye, whether they be athletes, musicians, etc. It should be the parent's job to teach them what/who to look up to, not the athletes.

Well, naturally, they are going to be held up as a very visible example of someone who worked hard and succeeded. That makes them a natural choice for a role model.

Of course, we can't expect them to be perfect (or even good) people off the field - but, I can certainly see how it happens.

My parents never taught me who or what to look up to. Guess they didn't do their job as parents. :P
