I honestly don't care one way or the other but I do think it would be better if he stepped down. He puts his progressive views ahead of his religious doctrine.

Is being progressive a bad thing? Seems to me like he's trying to keep the Catholic religion relevant by showing flexibility instead of rigidly sticking to the old ways.
