Simon Cowell Leaving American Idol?

The ninth season of American Idol may be Simon Cowell's final season on the show. There has been some recent buzz that Simon may be leaving Idol to focus on X Factor, a successful UK reality show he hopes to bring to the US. Now Simon's brother is saying there's truth to the rumors.



A press statement is being prepared which will confirm what everybody expected, Tony Cowell announced in a podcast posted to his website. Simon will leave Idol at the end of 2010 to concentrate on bringing the American version of The X Factor to U.S. TV in 2011.

Its not really any different to American Idol. Except they have groups, but the groups never do very well

They did a poll on the local area news.. (Where you log onto their website during the newscast and vote on the topic of the night).. Most people around here are going to stop watching. They say its not American Idol without Simon.



I dont even watch it at all so it doesnt matter to me.

It's weird cos he's a judge on the UK xfactor so I'm not sure why he wouldnt be on the US version.

He must believe BGT and X factor is all he needs.

Well I dont know why he cant be a judge on all the shows at once.

Maybe he wants some free time with his billions?

Well I hope that he quits american idol.. Becomes a judge on that new show.. Then it gets canceled. Then you guys can have him back..... Now we got to work on that Gordon Ramsay guy..

With Paula leaving this season and Simon leaving, I think the show will cut to a close in the next few years. It'd be interesting to see what they do though.

That would not be good, I would not watch the show as much as I used to if that happens.
