Sims 4 is not to be compared with Sims 3

Time has passed. TS4 has been released. I remember back in 2010 when I first signed up my account on the forums, TS3 was being criticized and hated by many players for infinite reasons like bugs, boredom, repetition and crashes.

I am not going to say that I am a veteran TS3 player because I am definitely not. I spent just around 100-200 hours on TS3 and by comparing that to some fellow players around the place having more than 2000 hours, I am just a newbie. However, I still know how to play TS3 very well.

I didn't play TS1 or 2. Not because I wasn't interested in them, but because I already was spending too much time playing other games, when I saw Sims 3, I immediately fell in love with it. Yes, TS3 is awesome. I joined the train after the release of The Adventures expansion. It was fun, interactive and challenging. However, one big drawback is you really could get bored at sometimes such as having many sims and all of them are 5 star celebs, you shift your complete focus to buy luxury stuff and enlarging your house and fancying your garage with the most expensive cars in store. You were definitely busy with creating pools, fountains and superbly looking outdoor decorations. All of this is amazing no doubt, but where are your sims from that? What attention they do get from you? Almost little to no attention. You can just have them sit at a place, play video games or read a book, but if you have a full house with 8 grown up sims? I am sure you weren't able to manage them and be fair among all of them.

With TS4 released, yes it feels awkward a bit for me since people say it resembles Sims 2 in a way or another and I am completely alien to TS2 as well. I dislike some of the features like removal of cars, city hall, grocery and book stores. Travelling is way boring when you just click and go (Loading in between even if the places are next to one another seems very pointless) But hold a second, I am advancing my sims relationships in a way much much better than I did in TS3. In TS3, I didn't even had time to make friends or hangout with them but in TS4, my sims are very social and friendly and thanks to the multitasking feature, they can manage conversations easily and in a neat manner.

In a nutshell, TS4, at least for me, helped me focus really on developing my sims in every aspect and in a way much better, efficient and realistic than TS3. TS3 is for those who admire designing homes and buy stuff, TS4 is for focusing entirely and mainly on making your sims the best in town. I noticed there are missing and few items only in the new buy mode, but I am pretty sure updates and expansions will add tons of features, fun and items to the game. Give TS4 a break already, it is only 2 days old.

And yes, TS3 is still there, it is not deleted, it didn't vanish and there are many people that I know myself still playing it extensively. Go have fun with whichever game you like, the purpose of these games is to have fun :)

I posted that also on Sims Forums here >> http://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/780138/dont-keep-crying-over-ts3#latest

The title of this thread is to be blunt, completely incorrect?

Of course something should be compared with it's predecessor, they share the name 'The Sims'. :nono:

You shouldn't buy the new one and be expected to play the old one to get the feeling you love of the game back, yes you shouldn't expect it to be the same but they've completely ruined the feeling of the game for me.

I like to focus on the construction side of the game for a large period of time before getting into the social side, the sims 4 has completely neglected this.

Maxis have messed up, the sims 4 is crap, I completely disagree with you on this.

That is your own point of view of course and I respect it. But the title ain't blunt or nothing, it is simply true. Sims 4 is totally different from Sims 3. Sims 4 is to be compared with Sims 2 not Sims 3. TS3 is different in every aspect of the game. Sims 4 is not an expansion pack or a completion for TS3, it is totally redesigned for a completely different experience. Yes I do miss many features of TS3 and TS3 is still a great and a widely played game and I did said that but Sims 4 is the newer one, why would they just create its gameplay to resemble that of TS3? Do you just want to have newly redesigned CAS and facial expressions and keep everything like it is? What is the point of releasing a new title then?

TS3 and its expansions are still strong and selling highly on the market, but I am sure TS4 is going to have great updates and features in the future. If you remember, with TS3 launch, it looked very ugly and code was full of bugs and glitches but eventually it became what it is today.

Anyway, did you request a refund? Or you planning to play it later when it improves?

The issue with TS4 is that it's absolutely bombed, the critics are giving it awful reviews and that's before you even look at the consumer reviews which are on average 1-2/10 less than that of the critics review which was already less than 5/10 really.

It's just not the game I think of when I think of The Sims, and this is the same for many other people. The Sims 3 is still successful as you said, so why change back to a more TS2 kinda game? It doesn't make sense.

I didn't want TS4 to be an expansion pack kinda game on TS3, but by improving on every aspect of TS3 you kind of create a new game that people will be happy to buy, and it's not exactly a difficult process.

TS4 is 'stripped back', which is PR chat for 'there's a lot less stuff'. Solid 3.5/10 for me. I'm not going to sell it as I want to see how things turn out, as with the latest Sim City they released some important updates.

I'm still playing the sims 3, spent a bit too long on it today actually, my 20 bedroom castle is looking amazing, so much detail and so well done, something that would simply not be able to be done on TS4, ah well.

I see. Im not defending TS4 by the way but im not gonna review it right now. It is only 3 days old. What features did you want TS4 to have?

Larger plots, more furniture/styles/more freedom in construction (more floors perhaps).
CARS/Garage doors.
The buildings in the backdrop should be visitable buildings, not made up.
Traveling around town should be viewable, not a loading screen.

I just feel if we weigh up what we've got in the new game against what we've lost, i'd rather have the old one.
