I went to the store this morning. As I went to put my groceries in my trunk, I saw this woman slapping a child. She was slapping him in his face, butt and hands. This child couldn't have been more than 4 years old. He was crying and screaming really loud.

*I will post what I did after others respond*

My question is: Would you have just ignored it or would you have said something to this woman?

Slapping on the rear is spanking. Anything else is uncalled for & probably abusive. I'd walk over & write her license plate down then tell I'm calling CPS.

I'd probably get her registration plate, call the Police/Social Services/NSPCC/Relevent Authority.

I wrote down the plate number and called 911 to dispatch the nearest police car. I then walked over to the woman. I asked her to please stop slapping the little boy. She told me to mind my own F'ing business. I told her what she does to the child behind close doors is her business. What she does to the child in public, then becomes MY business. I stood behind the car so she couldn't back out without hitting me. It wasn't long before the police arrived. They asked for my name, number and if I was willing to file a complaint. I told the officer that I'd be more than happy to file whatever it took to get this child away from this abusive mother. Later in the day, I went and filled out a report. The child was placed in the care of his Grandma for now. Not sure what happens next but I'm ready for it!

You did a good thing Jazzy. No child deserves to be slapped in the face.

Good on you Jazzy, you did the right thing. No child deserves to be slapped in the face. You can discipline your children but there is no need to slap a child in the face!!

You did the right thing and I am very proud of what you did to helped the poor child stay away from his abusive mother.
