Sleeping with prostitutes in GTA 5 just got more intense – and controversial – thanks to the new first person mode.
Has GTA just crossed the line - again?
Grand Theft Auto 5 has just got even more immersive, which therefore means it’s even more offensive.
In a game where you can murder people in many ways, including shooting them, stabbing them and running them over, it takes a lot to offend further.
But that’s what GTA 5 has done with its switch to first person for next generation consoles, which puts you in the action like never before.
A user uploaded a video from the newly released version of the game, available on PS4 and Xbox One, which showed his character getting ‘serviced’ by a prostitute before beating her up and then running her over.
‘This is just wrong! I have a five-year-old, this is not what I want him to see, not cool,’ wrote YouTube user Aretusa.
But not everyone agreed, with some arguing rightly a five-year-old shouldn’t be playing the game because it had an 18 certificate.
Others were afraid the combination of the new first person view and a Virtual Reality headset, which could be widely available in a few years, could make the game even more realistic.
It seems the age old debate of computer games influencing people in a negative way will rumble on.
