Just a question: How does any woman who gets an abortion effect your life?

Wondering why there have been two replies since I posted this but NO reply to this.

It all depends doesn't it?

It could change a lot. If you don't know the person you probably won't notice anything. The future has still changed, though.

So how far does that apply? Should doctors not help people, because maybe fate wills that they die? Should we not jail people for crimes, because if we do it changes the future?

How it affects me. If I had daughter, and she had a teenage pregnancy, she would never have that option as long as I'm alive. I would not vote for any person who would make it legal.

Well I personally don't know anyone who has gotten multiple abortions.. I'm just wondering why people assume that its totally commonplace to not use contraception and get an abortion instead. An abortion costs a lot of money, there can be a lot of emotional toll etc. Maybe someone can show me some statistics, but I'm not convinced that there are a large population of women out there who are getting tons of abortions and think nothing of it.

I found a paper on the subject from ten years ago and some other articles and in the United States one out of three women will have an abortion in their lifetime (much more likely if black or hispanic) and roughly 50% of those will have a second abortion, but the rates fall off from there, the numbers get quite low once you get to 3 and 4 in a lifetime.

Which is interesting, I'm not a woman, but if I were I think I would do everything in my power to use contraception to avoid having to make that kind of a choice.

And that brings us back to the reality of who is getting these abortions and the majority are likely coming from disadvantaged communities in extremely poor areas.

Since this is obviously a very touchy subject for you[...]

It's touchy for everybody. The thing is, I doubt you can have this sort of discussion without an argument breaking out somewhere along the line. The topic of abortion usually opens more than one can of worms, it seems.

I'm not condoning it at all; I'm just saying that it's no surprise to me anymore when I see a FUCK YOU or DUMBASS, particularly about abortion lol.

It's not that touchy for me. I believe what I believe and for those who believe differently, they are entitled to their views.

Same here. I'm openly pro-life and I'm not offended on my views being challenged.

I do avoid starting abortion topics mostly because people can be offended by the religious aspect of it. However, Smooth was not making any religious remark so she could not have foreseen this reaction.

Welp, the governor of my state just signed a bill that could close the only abortion clinic in it.

??? What are you talking about? There are many women who get pregnant and then get an abortion because the pregnancy is a mistake. Instead of using protection, they just say Screw it and get knocked up again and have an abortion again. Surely you knew that this went on. It happens all the time.

Are you asserting that there are many females out there using abortions as their birth control of choice? Following from this, could you be more specific in regards to what you mean by many women? As it is a rather vague and ambiguous term. What one person considers many, another might consider an inconsequential amount.
