Soccer vs Football

USA, Canada, Australia, and South Africa all call it soccer. It appears we outnumber the UK.

Add New Zealand to that list too.

Although the official name is football, soccer is a better term

Considering the fact you put your foot to the ball much less in american football, I'd have to say that Football is the proper term for your soccer

Football is in english sport, (Even american football originates from the english rugby), So this is an odd one

Exactly. Isnt it spelled ''futball'' though or somthing like that?

Different countries have different names for the game, but essentially, in most of the world it is known as football all be it in different languages.

* Germany Fußball

* Czech: fotbal

* French: football (le foot)

* Portuguese: futebol

* Spanish: fútbol or futbol[42]

* Turkish: futbol

* Serbian: fudbal

In other countries such as the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand etc Soccer is the name used.

Personally, I don't care what it is called and where. The game is instantly recognisable no matter what it's called.

Football is a global sport where as American Football isn't (by that I mean it doesn't have a World Cup). Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA)

Soccer is a term that originates from British public schools (back in the day) that was just adopted by other countries as they developed their own 'football'.
