Social media addicts are competing for places on a 'cold turkey' detox programme on a remote Scottish island.
Six techies will aim to prove the depth of their obsession and get selected for the three-day Tech Time-Out experiment, where they'll be denied access to smartphones, tablets or a wi-fi connection.
Instead, the Scottish Youth Hostelling Association will offer outdoor activities such as hill walking, archery and abseiling. Over 50 people have already applied.
The event takes place on the Isle of Arran in September. SYHA chief executive Keith Legge thought of the idea after watching a YouTube video called Look Up, mocking people walking around with their eyes glued to their phones.
He told The Scotsman: "By offering some Tech Time-Out, we think the participants will see the benefits of switching off once in a while and see what they're missing.
"It is ironic that probably the main way we will get people to know about this is through social media and online, but there you are."
