Have you ever been on a forum that's basically ran by one person, no moderators or other staff to help, and they go around with their head cut off until it gets clean off?

(Most sites where the owner refuses any help usually fail as they grow larger.)

I noticed it today on a promotion site. The former owner stepped down because they were too busy and couldn't keep it up anymore, yet they had no staff to even help out. Now, promotional boards are different, because you need a bunch of staff to fulfill all the tasks and responsibility so it's not one person on for 12 hours a day trying to do it all.

Nebulous made a great point in a thread a while back, basically saying that you should have enough staff so no one gets overwhelmed. What happened here is that the owner got overwhelmed by trying to do it all, and you'd wonder why it is not doing good.

Can't say I've ever been on a forum like this. I have been on a forum where the Admin is NEVER there and will NOT return emails even though it says click here to reach the Admin

Ive always had at least one partner in crime on every forum Ive ran.

Same here. Except when I first started out, I've always tried to have at least one to two people on staff to help me out in case I ever needed to be away for even more than a week. I also believe I know which forum this is. I also think it's happening quickly to another promotion forum as well.

You always need someone else to help, even if you are just starting out. Their input is always valued. And yes, as you grow larger you should employ(?) staff to help out and keep everyone happy and abiding by the rules.

When I started this forum it was just me and 1 other person for like the 1st four months or so. People kept suggesting we get moderators but we didn't have any need for them. Although there came a point when we thought it was time to get a couple... Once the forum started growing at a faster pace.
