How well is your home sound-proofed?

Can you easily hear noises from outside? Traffic? People doing yard work or using power tools? Neighbors playing music?

Does it bother you?

Our windows are thinner than I'd like, but we have decent soundproofing in the house. Only time it's annoying is when the landscaping crew that looks after the park right next door to where we live turn up at 6 in the morning and make a huge racket. Cuts right through the windows and they're there for at least two hours each time. Ugh.

Not sound-proof enough apparently, because the dogs hear a car drive by or kids playing outside or something and they start barking. I can generally always hear something going on outside, like cars driving by, trains, lawn mowing, and whatnot.

Not sound proof at all, I hear everything. Which has been the case everywhere I’ve ever lived. I guess they build houses with thin walls here in California. It sucks.

I'm going to guess that might be because the climate is so mild? I think most places are pretty well insulated here.
(It's 31° right now; got down to the low 20's last nite) We don't hear a lot of outside noise.
