After vows are exchanged a priest may say something like

If any man, woman, or child has any just reason or cause why these two should not be lawfully wed, speak now or forever hold your peace.

.... have you ever actually seen someone say something? What happened after?

Would you ever speak up if you objected to a marriage?

I've heard it once or twice before...maybe not in those exact words but pretty close. As for whether I would speak up and object? Probably not..those issues are usually settled before it gets to the day of the wedding itself.

If I objected to a marriage, I wouldn't be in attendance to speak up.

I can honestly say I have never seen anyone say anything after these lines have been said at any wedding I have been to but after those lines are said the atmosphere in the church or where ever the wedding takes place is quite amazing. It's like everyone expects something to be said. :D

Nope. Only been to one or two weddings I can actually remember, and I hardly remember the first one. No one objected at the time the priest said this. It would be hilarious, though, I think. I just hate going to weddings anyway.

I'd think if you were going to say something at that point that you already would have by now. Why would you wait to the last minute to air your problem over this wedding? I doubt anyone actually partakes of this opportunity to stop a wedding. I never been to one so I can't say I know much about the finer details of a wedding.

This.

So how do you ladies feel about other people doing it? :P

I couldn't care less what other people do. I answered the question based on what I would do.

Although I'm a male, I also agree with this statement. I'm a very silent person after all.

Indeed. Also, if someone does actually say something, will that prevent the wedding from happening? ...or will it just make the person saying something look like a big jerk ruining people's special day.
