SPIDERS!!!
10 Oct

A home in an upscale Missouri neighborhood, infested with brown recluse spiders, was finally being exterminated after a five year legal battle between the current and previous owners.

A family bought the home, located near Whitmoor Country Club, in 2008 and later found out it was infested with what an expert estimated to be 5,000 brown recluse spiders.

The family sued the previous owners, saying they were not informed of the spider problem.

The house eventually went into foreclosure.

Crews have now covered the house with a giant tent and pumped in poison gas to kill the spiders.

...A bite from the brown recluse can be serious, depending on how much venom is injected, said Jamal Sandidge with the University of Kansas.

“It’s not going to kill you, but it will make you wish you were dead,” Sandidge said.

... Blue-and-orange striped tarps covered the house this week as an exterminator blasted the spiders and eggs with 200 pounds of sulfuryl fluoride gas, pumped in at 67 degrees below zero.

I saw a huge one the other day, even after I killed it, I had to had flush it down the toilet. I couldn't feel comfortable putting that monster in the trash, it needed to be removed completely from my household through the sewer system.
