Mike Johnson, the Republican speaker of the House of Representatives, kept up his defense of Donald Trump today at a press conference. He decried Trump’s conviction as politically motivated and representing “a new low” for Democrats:
Trump was convicted by a New York City jury of charges brought by Alvin Bragg, Manhattan’s Democratic district attorney. However, despite the claims of some Republicans, there is no evidence that Joe Biden or any other top Democrats were involved in Bragg’s decision to indict Trump.
