Staff Expectations

From a regular member's standpoint, what do expect from a staff member of a forum?



Examples: How do you expect him/her to behave, interact with people, stimulate activity on the forums, handle issues, warnings, bannings, etc etc....



If a forum staff member does not live up to your expectations, do you say something about it? Leave?

For a long time I expected the staff to be cliquish, to flame users or instigate an argument and then delete rebuttals, and to essentially drive everybody but their own friends off the board.



It would seem that, so far, Off Topix and its staff have not met those expectations.

I expect staff members to treat members as they wish to be treated. Just because a member is staff, doesn't make that member any better than a regular member. In any given situation, staff members need to be fair and if they can't be then they need to step down.



If a staff member doesn't live up to my expectations reporting them would be a waste of my time. The other staff members would cover it up or make excuses. It's happened to me before and it's easier just to move on.

I expect them to be fair in their dealings. I expect them to keep the forum clean. I expect them to uphold the rules. I expect them to answer forum-related questions to the best of their ability. Anything else is a bonus.

It would seem that, so far, Off Topix and its staff have not met those expectations.

Our apologies, we will try harder in the future.

I expect staff to behave like regular people until its time to handle an issue. When an issue arises, they need to be smart, lenient and fair.

Short and simple expectations from this guy.

On the whole, Off Topix has been a very pleasant forum to be part of.
