They don't want to take their country back. They just want to leave it behind.

As the dust settles in the wake of President Obama's decisive reelection last Tuesday, the White House petition website has been flooded by a series of secession requests, with malcontents from New Jersey to North Dakota submitting petitions to allow their states to withdraw from the union.

Most of the petitions submitted thus far have come from solidly conservative states, including most of the Deep South and reliably separatist Texas. But a handful come from the heart of blue America - relatively progressive enclaves like Oregon and New York.

All told, petitions have been filed on behalf of 20 states: Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas.

Sounds like a second Civil War is about happen.

People are waking up. I posted this on my facebook a couple of days ago and also linked in Sons of Liberty.

I think all these states are just asking for trouble. Where you gonna come up with the money for border patrols, your own armies, and the like? And its just asking for a Religion to get in control and be all heavy handed.

Maybe it'll wake the US up and stop the wars in other countries, if they've gotta go to war with their own.

I'm talking a bit more then that. Diversity's always a nice thing though.

It makes me wonder how we will react when they let all those automatic spending cuts and tax increases to happen all because neither side wants to work with anyone? The petitions are hardly going to do anything but they show that people are angry and all they need now is some sort of leader to emerge to take that blind rage and direct it somewhere. I hardly think a civil war is to be celebrated as many will pay for it in ways they probably aren't ready or prepared to. The last time we did this, we fought with muskets and bayonets on horses. Can you imagine how the second one would be fought with all of today's technology lying around just waiting to be used? You would also have to imagine what the rest of the world will do when the powerful nation on Earth self destructs leading many to be defenseless because they grown too accustomed to America always being there to defend them? Not to mention the economic implications for the rest of the planet. You also have to wonder if anyone outside the US would use the civil war as an opportunity to invade and take it over which will make everyone in this country a loser if that happens.

With every election there seems to be people who are malcontent. If Romney was elected there wouldn't be any difference. Likewise, there would be a lot of people shaking their heads if someone like Romney became president. There would still be people discontent with the existing state of affairs. You would still get people like Donald Trump who make a fool of themselves on social media; calling for revolution and complaining about perceived corruption because the person they wanted to win ended up losing the election.

Some of the states that have petitioned are no surprise: Texas, South Carolina, Alabama. I sensed notions of Southern uprising long before Obama was even elected. As the article noted, I didn't expect New York and New Jersey's involvement. They're usually the progressive states.

I'm happy to see my own state also wanting to secede. While I doubt it will happen, I do believe it is sending exactly the proper message to the moron in the White House that we DON'T WANT HIM. This has never happened before, and I love what it says about this farce of an election.

Then you better come up with a new flag and a new slogan.

Meaning, no more chanting USA, USA for you folks... LOL!

He's got a point. After all, it'd no longer be the United States but rather, divided.

I seem to remember a run on T-shirts that said not MY President in the Northeast and various inner cities when Mr. Bush was re-elected, as well as a bunch of celebrities who had threatened to move out of the country suddenly shutting up and hiding instead of pricing moving vans.

Well, there are both right wing and left wing zealots (political fanatics, extremists)!

You know I heard something about how the Supreme Court ruled it was unconstitutional to seceed.

EDIT: That might have been just something in Canada though.
