Subscription services for DLC?

A month or two ago I saw the developers of one of the games I play offer subscription services for their DLC. Note that they have many DLCs out and when all get combined, the price goes high a lot. But the price of the subscription is only $5 a month and offers full access.

Do you think that is a good idea? Why or why not?

It's a way of always getting some cash. I'd say it depends. If it's an online game that's always improving then it's okay, but for something that rarely updates.. then it's really like just giving them money even when they have done nothing.

If it's a DLC for a game I rather pay once and own that DLC outright.

I would most likely go for it, most DLC I get I don't use very long so I wouldn't mind paying less.
