As the high-speed Acela train came thundering down the rails, a teenage girl screamed at her friends to get off the tracks. But Gina Gentile and Vanessa Dorwart did not move. They hugged as the train bore down on them at speeds up to 110 mph, carrying out a suicide pact that the witness herself had backed out of only moments before.

Nice.... :/ Wouldnt have been anything left of her then :/

Feel so sorry for the train drivers.

Dickheads. Absolute dickheads, imagine how the train driver feels. Not 100 years of counselling could heal that. Disgusting.

We had something like this happen. When teens decide to kill themselves, they usually want to go out being noticed. Someone hung themselves from the roof of a high school around here too. My brothers best friend in high school shot herself in her room while all the family was home, they walked in when they heard the noise. Not a pretty sight I'll bet.

It's a wonder the friends didn't even attempt to push them away from the tracks.

They did that because depression tricks the mind into perceiving a problem as being much bigger then it truly is. In their mind, their problem was like a huge mountain that is impossible to climb then it makes you think that ending your life will let you get away without having to climb it. A lot of people usually give off a lot of warning signs beforehand so I imagine they just didn't see them and therefore weren't able to help.

I wouldn't call these people such names as they and many others like them are in need of desperate help and the last thing they need is people turning their backs on them.

Don't confuse these people with the emo stereotype as these people aren't like that but many are ignorant of the fact that there is people who truly need help and aren't just doing it solely for attention.

The way you can help people like this is to help them climb that mountain and show them it's not as big as it appears therefore defeating the depression and helping to turn someone around for the better. That's something that didn't happen here unfortunately.

It's so crazy how people could do such a thing, and like everyone is saying. The train driver must be upset about it as well.

I saw a programme about train drivers a while back, had a feature of suicide in it. most of the drivers covered couldnt go back to work, had to have councelling, were majorlly depressed and guilty etc.. must be aweful, to feel like you have killed someone, but that the same time could do nothing about it.
