I wrote this short story just after the earthquake swarm there in around 2004.

If you look at the US Earthquake map, the string of shaking as described in the story, running southwest from the park, is still happening. http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsus/

Serious Save

A girl and her cave find love with a Super Volcano.

Ain't nothin' sinkin'. Somethin' is risin'. The dying man gestured toward the top of the map. Look where it's a pointin' ya.

Yellowstone. Brooke read off the map.

No National Parks were destroyed in the writing of this story.

Eh, we were told this in 8th grade by our science teacher.

We'll be fine, geological time is so large that it's usually off by a couple of thousand years, at least. Doubt anything will happen in our lifetimes (thank God, it'd like, kill over half the planet o.o).

Because of the sheer size of the thing!

When it blows it will cover the planet in a thick dust cloud for years. The sun won't be able to penetrate the dust and the planet will rapidly enter the next ice age and the majority of (if not all) human life will become extinct.
