Not a ton of people get surgeries, but when there is something wrong in the body it doesn't hurt to consider the possibility of needing to get one, if you have the ability to take time off for it. I've gotten a few over the past 10 years, hated the healing process though. Not something I enjoy doing, but most of them so far, were needed due to what they were, and where they were located. 3 bone spurs. Getting the surgeries fixed the pain related problems I was experiencing, and if I let them sit at the spots I had them located in any longer than they were, I would have experienced chronic nerve and tissue damage.

What about you, have you experienced the need to get a surgery, or do you know someone that had to have one?

I had my tonsils removed when I was six years old.

No surgeries for me as yet.

No surgery required to date.. *touch wood*

I've had a couple of injuries that have required stitches, but thankfully the healing time has been minimal.

I've had my two large toenails permanently removed because of issues with ingrown toenails, my left kidney had a blocked passageway when I was 14 that I had surgery to correct (left permanent damage on that kidney thanks to hydronephrosis), I've had to have two kidney stones surgically removed because they were stuck in my passageways, and I've had about 9 surgeries on my legs to close various veins that have been causing me issues. I'm quite familiar with surgeries :D

I had one major surgery, I have a condition called cholesteatoma, and it has gotten worse to the point that I had to go for a five hours surgery and it was months after months of recovery. The surgery went very good as I had the best doctors that you can ask for and it was not painful, worse part was that I had four months of long recovery that felt like years and was a waiting game to remove the bandage.

To this day I have to see the specialist twice a year for a checkup and also even that it's been fixed and all healthy and good, I still have that condition for life.

My husband has had to have a couple of foot surgeries. Thankfully I've never had to have any surgeries. *knocks on wood*

When I was six and a half years old, I underwent dental surgery. One of my teeth had the wrong direction of growth. It needs to be extracted through surgery.
