Just last night on a call, I was cut by a broken piece of glass. Didn't realize the drunk had a broken piece of a beer bottle in his jacket pocket. When I went to check his injuries, he cut me with it on the top of my left hand. My co-worker stomped on his hand to free the piece of glass. The drunk wound up with only bruises to his hand. I wound up getting 12 sutures.

Several good things came of this (if you can look at it that way):

It was my left hand and I'm right handed.

The sutures are dissolvable so they don't have to be pulled out (I hate that)!

The drunk has been charged with assault on an emergency medical responder.

Ever have to get sutures/stitches? If so, what caused you to have to get them?

I tore some groin muscles and had to get those stitched back together.

Ouch! That sounds very painful. How did you tear the muscles?

That sucks! What a jerk.

Ive had stitches in my head when I was a kid and those had to be pulled out with pliers by my dad. lol

Stitches used to scare me as a kid, I remember one time when I was six or seven, I threw a rusty metal pipelike thing, and a nail on it scraped up my arm as I threw it. Scared the living hell out of me, but the only thing that I was screaming was, I don't want stitches!

Minor accident during ski training. It didn't hurt one bit actually, it just felt like I overstretched it.

What happened that you had to get stitches in your head? Were they staples vs thread stitches?

Did you wind up getting stitches that day?

Glad it didn't hurt you when it happened. Just sounds very painful to me.

I've had a history of freak accidents that didn't hurt me one bit. So weird, because they all sound ridiculously painful, yet...

I had to get stitches in my head twice during my childhood.

One time was when I was smacked in the head with a board (there was a nail in it too), the other was when I fell against a metal edge of some jungle gym steps at the park.

Both times were staples I think.

I got that before when a gay dog bit me when I was 5 years old.

Did you mean stray dog?

I had a total of sixteen stitches after being hit by a car a couple years ago. I had to have steel rods fitted in my leg to hold the bones together, so I had ten in my knee and six in my ankle. They weren't dissolvable, but their removal wasn't handled that well. A few weeks after having them removed, I pulled one out of my ankle which had apparently been forgotten.

I had to have a few stitches in my lip when it got caught under my braces and cut up a bit. They had to be taken out a few days later. After they were taken out I was looking in the bathroom mirror when I noticed there was still one in there. It was cut so I just had to pull it out...
